New Drawing

Happy New Year to you all! I hope that so far 2009 has treated you well. Below is a drawing titled " Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sometimes Sundays with Ryder" it is charcoal and pastel on paper, and one of the few drawings that I considered finished during my time at the Vermont Studio Center. I am continuing to work in my studio on large and small drawings and will update as quickly as I finish and photograph them.

Back to Reality

As you all know, I have recently returned home from the Vermont Studio Center, a month long residency program that I attended up until the middle of December.

I am now back to reality and looking for a job! I wanted to put the word out in case any of my readers know of an oppurtunity. I have a lots of experience with the visual art world, office work and with general building and maintenance. An ideal job for me right now would be in the creative world, but allow me enough brain power to return to the studio every night. I am also willing to relocate to pretty much anywhere, although it would be best to stay in Massachusetts because of affordable health care. Keep your eyes and ears open and if you know of anything please get in touch with me at beamodisett@yahoo.com Thanks to you my faithful readers!

Vermont Studio Center

Hello Everyone!
I have returned from my amazing month long residency at the Vermont Studio Center, an experience I will not soon (if ever) forget. I created some amazing friendships with the many interesting people I met, and learned alot about my own studio practice. This is a program that I would suggest to any artist who needs some solid studio time away from the everyday distractions of the world (bills, jobs, etc.) The campus and accomodations were beautiful, although it reached negative three degrees one day, the snow made everything picture perfect!

The most valuable part of this experience was becoming more in tune about my own creative development, something that I could not have realized with out the help of my new peers and the conversations I had with some of the visiting artists. I made a particular connection with sculpture/printmaker Ed Smith who spent over and hour with me in my studio, and painter Barbara Grossman. Both had a unique perspective that allowed me to look at my work in a new light.

I was spoiled with the size of my studio (about 300 square feet), the natural light, and the view of downtown and the mountain range from my window. Photos can not do the experience justice. If you have any questions about the program you can visit http://www.vermontstudiocenter.org/ or ask me about my own experience!

Blog Vacation

Greetings from Vermont Studio Center! This is an incredible place. A beautiful campus with an even more beautiful mission...to be creating at all times. It is wonderful to know that every night when I go to sleep I have nothing to do the next day except being in my studio. That being said, I have decided to take a technology hiatus. I originally thought I would be updating my blog with pictures along the way, but would like to keep this experience pure and free of obligations.

This might change, but until then, see you in a month when I will post all about my experience here!

Hi All,
Below are two new drawings. I have been on the road as an Admissions Representative for Montserrat College of Art for the past month, so both of these drawings are smaller in scale due to hotel room life. The smaller scale did encourage me to work a bit quicker and I took more risks with my composition. I also am appying to a number of residencies, including a printshop program. I would love to see these drawings as lithographs. I am hoping to get into the printshop when I am at the Vermont Studio Center. I would appreciate any feedback. Enjoy!
